Voyager Rest is ideally located to enjoy the incredible beauty of wild wonderful West Virginia! It is situated on a private 7+ acre lot, within Canaan Valley National Wildlife Refuge - within Old Timberline gated resort community. It offers complete privacy, yet is just minutes from countless outdoor pursuits.
The interior of Voyager Rest is exquisitely finished with antiques and collectables from around the globe. It is truly one of a kind. It includes, a large stone wood-burning fireplace, oak beams, antique hardwood and slate flooring, stone showers, and granite counter-tops fitted with hand-made copper sinks. Two kayaks are available to guests; one at each lake (Please see orientation).
Canaan Valley National Wildlife Refuge was the 500th National Wildlife Refuge (NWR) to be established in the United States. The refuge preserves a moist valley with unique wetlands and uplands at a relatively high elevation in the Allegheny Mountains.
Note guests have access to fishing at (2) lakes within the Old Timberline community <5min from the cabin - no fishing license required within the community.

Summary: This was our second time at this property. This time we took our two boys. They loved it just as much as we did. The location is perfect for hiking during the day. And the house is perfect for enjoying each others' company in the evenings. The host has always been super helpful. My youngest son didnt want to leave and is making plans to return in the future.

Summary: Despite the chilly weather, we enjoyed our stay tremendously. Or perhaps BECAUSE of the chilly weather? While we did get out to explore (Blackwater Falls and Canaan Valley State Parks) during the sunny days, we slept in late each morning and returned in the afternoon to curl up by the fireplace with books and music. We cooked all of our meals in the well-stocked kitchen and dined together “at home.” The beds were very comfortable and made with high quality linens. Showering was even a treat! The collections on display kept us entertained throughout our stay. I’m sure we didn’t take in everything over the three days. At night we relaxed in the hot tub, under the stars. We look forward to visiting again during a different season so we can see more of the local area.

Summary: We had a wonderful time with dear friends in this one of a kind amazing house! This property is gorgeous, it has an amazing view of the valley, is very well maintained and is truly unique! I would recommend this house for anyone looking for a place to relax, unwind and enjoy the area an friends!

Summary: Beautiful, secluded and comfortable home. Home was unique and decorated with treasurers from around the world. We only left to grab some dinner take-out in the town of David. Spent majority of our time watching movies next to a warm fire. Loved the surround sound and the large stone shower downstairs. Slept in the loft room-super comfy! We plan to return next year! Thank you Jim!

Summary: We enjoyed the many unique items throughout the home collected by the owner through their travels. The cabin was clean, well stocked, and very private with wonderful views. Communication was a little lacking, but there were no major issues. We would definitely stay again!

Summary: This home is so so special and we enjoyed another fantastic stay. Had great skiing weather a couple days, one day of rain but we played board games and enjoyed the hot tub. My 80 year old Mom slept till noon and I had to go wake her, the beds were so comfortable. Thanks again to Jim for such a fun place to take a wide range of people. We hated to leave!

Summary: Voyager Rest was perfect place for our quick trip to introduce our grandchildren to skiing. They loved exploring the rooms and the unique decor. The place is in a perfect location to the slopes at Timberline Mountain Ski Resort. It was easy to check in at the security gate and access the home. Very clean and well stocked with items you might need while away from home. Jim, the owner, was quick to reply with the front door code when VRBO didn't send it. He sent detailed instructions that covered any questions we might have had while there. The hot tub was a huge family favorite. Our dogs loved running around in the snow around the home. We didn't have trouble driving on the snow packed road to the place. we will definitely be returning!

Summary: My family and I loved this place. Location is just minutes from timberline, the cost was good and it had more character than any VRBO I've rented before. The views were top notch and the owner was very communicative. The pics do not do it justice. Would recommend to anyone and I can assure you we will be back
